NOVEMBER DRR’s ADDRESS– THE ROTARY FOUNDATION MONTH

This month reminds us of the heart behind our service. Each time we give to The Rotary Foundation, we’re not just donating; we’re investing in a better world—one filled with peace, opportunity, and hope. That commitment to doing good is what keeps Rotaract alive.

OCTOBER RECAP:

ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES

• RotaTech Training: We kicked off October with the RotaTech Training, a 3-month learning experience designed to help Rotaractors embrace technology and digital transformation. What began as a target of 30 participants grew into a powerful community of over 70 Rotaractors eager to learn, collaborate, and create meaningful impact.

• Rota-Summer Bootcamp and International Business Summit: We also wrapped up the 5-week-long Rota-Summer Bootcamp, a project that equipped 15 beneficiaries with entrepreneurial skills, practical insights, and renewed purpose. In partnership with Desile Special Consult, the graduation featured an International Business Summit where thought leaders and young innovators shared insights on business sustainability and scaling social impact.

At the close of the event, the District supported the best 10 participants with a collective grant of ₦200,000 to help them kickstart their entrepreneurial journey — a true reflection of Rotary’s belief in empowering people to build better futures.

END POLIO ADVOCACY ACTION

On October 10, Rotaractors from our District joined the End Polio Train Ride and the symbolic hoisting of the End Polio Flag at the peak of Olumo Rock, in partnership with Rotary Districts 9111 and 9112, and Rotaract District 9111. It was a memorable moment of unity and advocacy.

On October 17, Rotaractors joined the End Polio Awareness Drive in the Sagamu–Remo axis, taking the message of immunization directly to families and communities.

Then, on October 23, we took our advocacy to the grassroots through a rural sensitization drive at Ilisan Market — engaging traders and visitors on why every child aged 0–5 must be vaccinated. And to cap the month, on October 25, Rotaractors teamed up with Rotary District 9112 for an End Polio Awareness and Immunization Drive in the Makoko community, Lagos, bringing health and hope to one of the city’s most underserved areas.

MEMBERSHIP GROWTH AND ENGAGEMENT

We welcomed the Rotaract Club of LASU Epe Campus, chartered with 32 energetic and passionate members — a testament to the growth of our movement. The District also held its Inaugural Membership Seminar on October 11, equipping Rotaractors with strategies to grow and sustain active, engaging clubs.

In the same month, the Rotaract Clubs of Mushin and Ikoyi inducted five new members each.

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION UPDATE

Our District’s shared commitment to The Rotary Foundation continued to shine through. In October alone, Rotaract District 9112 contributed over $200 to PolioPlus and the Annual Fund.

NOVEMBER IN BRIEF

Here’s what lies ahead this month:

November 20–23: Rotaract Africa Summit — an opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate with changemakers across Africa.

November 29: Second Council Meeting — a time to review progress, realign goals, and re-energize our district.

Throughout November: DRR Visits continue with the Rotaract Clubs of OOU, Lekki Novare, Lekki Phase 1, and Ilisan.

As I bring this to an end, to every Rotaractor in District 9112 — thank you. Thank you for showing up, serving selflessly, and carrying the banner of Rotary with pride and purpose. Your actions, big and small, are shaping lives and strengthening communities every day.

As we move through this Foundation Month, let’s keep that fire alive. Give where you can, serve where you are, and remember that every act of kindness counts.

Because when we each do a little, together, we truly do a lot.

With gratitude and service,

ATITEBI, Ismail Abiodun, PHF
District Rotaract Representative,
Rotaract District 9112, 2025/2026.
