Empowering Entrepreneurs, Advancing Communities.

Across Africa, countless young people face the challenge of limited access to practical skills and opportunities for economic independence. In response, Rotaract District 9112’s International Service Team introduced the ROTA-Summer Bootcamp, a five-week initiative designed to equip participants with both technical know-how and the confidence to pursue entrepreneurship.

Guided by the theme “Becoming an International Entrepreneur,” the program brought together 25 participants from diverse walks of life — students, stay-at-home mothers, civil servants, and aspiring entrepreneurs. They came with uncertainty but left with tangible skills, networks, and the belief that they could create change for themselves and their communities.

Training sessions spanned baking, shoe-making, photography, graphic design, and project design. Beyond learning trades, participants developed the ability to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and present their ideas with confidence. For 10 outstanding individuals, the journey advanced further as they received starter fund, courtesy of the District Rotaract Representative-ATITEBI Ismail Abiodun PHF, enabling them to launch entrepreneurial ventures immediately.

The closing ceremony on September 4, 2025, celebrated not just skill acquisition, but transformation. With the support of partners — Desile Special Consult, Let’s Plan Africa, and Rotaract Clubs of Kingfarm, Olambe, Gbagada, Surulere South, and Ota — the bootcamp demonstrated Rotary’s enduring commitment to economic empowerment and sustainable community development.

The journey continues on October 17, 2025, at the International Business Summit, Graduation & Awards in Ota, Ogun State, where participants will showcase their growth and entrepreneurial projects on a larger stage.

The ROTA-Summer Bootcamp affirms a timeless Rotary truth: when service creates opportunity, lives are not just changed — communities are advanced.
